Jim graduated from the University of Memphis with a Bachelors Degree in Business. He continues to add to his education. He has received his Certificate of Financial Planning from Kaplan College. Jim is also certified in Long Term Care. He holds the Certified Fund Specialist, and Accredited Investment Fiduciary designations. Jim has also completed the Certified Divorce Financial Analyst educational program. He is a registered representative of Securian Financial Services.

He joined Shoemaker in 2002 after a career with United Parcel Service. During his time at Shoemaker Jim has become a Partner in the firm as well as a mentor.

Jim focuses assisting his clients with Cash Flow, Financial Position, Investment Planning, Income Planning, Protection Planning, Retirement Planning, Estate Planning, Wealth Planning and Business Succession Planning.

He is often a guest Speaker and lecturer at local and national conferences. Topics he covers include Best Approach to Financial Planning, The Financial Planning Process, Win Win with Financial Planning, Insurance Options for Support, Maintenance and Education, and various individual financial planning, retirement and divorce planning.

Jim is a member of the: International Association of Registered Financial Consultants, Institute for Divorce Financial Analyst, Institute for Business and Finance, Center for Fiduciary Studies, Million Dollar Round Table (for four consecutive years), Nashville Bar Association and Memphis Bar Association.

Jim earned membership into the Foundation Club in 2002, the Polaris Club in 2003, the Senate Club in 2004, and the President’s Club in 2006. He also was awarded with Excellence in Performance in 2004 and 2005. In 2006 Jim became a field director. He currently holds FINRA registrations 6, 63, and 7.
