Charles J. (Jeff) Long is a Financial Advisor with Shoemaker Financial and a Registered Representative with Securian Financial Services Inc. He received his degree from the Herff College of Engineering at the University of Memphis in 1968. After a four-year tour as an officer in the United States Air Force and another four years as chief engineer for a Memphis firm, he made a strategic change to a career in financial planning. He has been with Shoemaker Financial since it was founded in 1978. He has earned the Certified Fund Specialist designation, is certified in Long Term Care and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® practitioner. Jeff is a Registered Securities Principal and a Vice President of the firm.

As a member of the Planning Resource Center at Shoemaker, Jeff’s current responsibilities include participation in both the fee based planning operations and asset management program. He is director of the basic and continuing education program for Shoemaker advisors. Jeff also has a personal practice that combines a well-rounded approach to investment and insurance and specializes in working with entrepreneurs.


Jeff and his wife, Linda, are very involved with their two sons Wesley and Jonathan who both attended their dad’s alma mater The University of Memphis. As an avid bicycle rider he was a charter member of the Shoemaker sponsored “Cycling Financial Planners” team and bikes both on and off the road approximately 100 miles each week. His latest cycling endeavor is with the Memphis Chapter Harley Owners Group (HOG). Jeff says the 700 lb. Harley is easier to pedal. He and Linda attend Hope Presbyterian Church and Jeff is a tag-team teacher for his adult bible fellowship.
